Kakariki cannibalism

I have 1 year aged coupe of kakarikis. For their frst nest the female laid 8 eggs and the first one hatched last night. The female ate the shell then beaten the chick in 3 points making him bleed. After that she killed him. What would explain this cannibalism behaviour?

What do I do?

I had to move where my birds normally are to a different location due to construction and spring just started. Two of the three laid an egg. How do I discourage this? Or is this okay. I guess I’m just worried and I feel a little clueless. I have no male birds.
