Avicakes seem dry

My green cheek conure used to love avicakes, but only when they are fresh and chewy. Lately, even though the package has a 2021 exp date, they do not seem as chewy and are more brittle. Now she won’t eat them. These are the main pelleted food she would eat. What is up?
